The speed is 10 megabits per second upstream and downstream. This service requires absolutely clean line of sight to the selected SSCB towers where its access points are. Equipment and installations needed for Broadband 240 Wifi: Self-installation: Easily done with most equipment listed below. 1.) Close distance solution: You already have a Wifi 80211G adapter in your computer, live within less than 0.5 km from the closest Community Broadband tower or access point and can see it from your window. Very important! This will work on very short distances only, and due to the variety of equipment in the market place, ILS cannot provide technical support for end user equipment problems.
2.) USB adapter solution: The ILS supported EnGenius EUB-362EXT USB based adapter installed on Windows XP. The adapter is placed on a window facing the CommunityBroadband installations, if necessary, extended with a 7 meter USB extension cable.
3.) Ethernet adapter solutions:

While the Broadband network is protected, this type of routers by default allow outsiders to connect to your home network wirelessly. A home network is not part of your Internet service from ILS/SSCB. The home network must be protected for identity and bandwidth theft. If you are unfamiliar with ESSIDs and MAC filtering, arrange for us to program your router for correct security settings without loosing connection speed. ILS does not install or provide tech support for home networks, but we can recommend a qualified technician to set it up for you. Want your own .com? We can also host your own domain name. This involves setting up a virtual server configuration to our server, which then will respond to requests for yourdomain.com. If you want us to host your domain, please do not reserve or register it before contacting us. It will be difficult and time consuming to transfer the domain from another organization. One-time fee of CAD 75.00 gets your Internic (.com) or Canadian (.ca) domain registered and activated on our DNS service. From there on, renewals are $65.00 / year. A regular web site setup can be set up within 24 hours, a domain takes typically 1-2 days. If you already have a domain registered and hosted some place else, and you would like to transfer it our service, ask for server and contact details that you need when you transfer your domain. Domain transfer (name server change) can only be done by the person who is listed as the admin contact.
Creation (writing HTML, PHP, Perl or Java code, text, scanning graphics, etc.) and administration, (FTP, Unix operations, changes) is $45.00 / hour.
