Dial-up connections for families and
businesses
Direct access to the Internet backbone,
dial-up numbers for all of Canada. All
56k/v90 modems, no forwarding, high line speeds, no busy
signals. Email accounts included. We have two different
dial-up services:
- unlimited hours / month of connection time $23.99
- 60 hours / month of connection time $16.99
The unlimited option includes mail addresses to all family members in the same residence.
These services involve different terms and
conditions.
The service includes instructions, and technical support to configure your
connection with your Windows 95/98/98SE/ME/XP/VISTA operating system. The service is
also compatible with Linux and MacOS operating systems.

Broadband Internet
How to get the Broadband service?
1.) See the approximate Service Coverage Map. Call us at 905-476-1011 and ask about availability at your location.
2.) Download and print the Broadband application form. Bring it to our office (at 1 Church St. Keswick unit 6 10AM-4PM), you can also fax it to 905-476-3314
3.) We will call you after having surveyed your location to arrange the installation.
900/2400 Lite
The Lite service shares the same technology, superior stability and reliability as the Wide. The bandwidth is adjusted for those who do not need extremely high speeds. Still, at 360 kilobits per second upstream and downstream, the 900 Lite is very fast, more than 7 times faster than dial-up and browses even heavy web pages fluently. The Subscriber Unit is rented for $6.99 month from South Shore Community Broadband and is typically installed on a high point (20-30ft) on your house.
This service involves an ethernet cable from the outdoor SU to your computer or router providing your device with a static IP. It has very low latency characteristics, gets mail attachments and files quikcly and leaves your phoneline free.
The Lite service is installed by the ILS crew at your site, with basic connectivity to your computer or router (not including home network setups etc.). The typical cost for installation is $125 plus network cables and brackets.
The 900 Lite is available only for residential use, up to three computers attached, is $29.95 / month.
Broadband 900/2400/5830 Wide
The Wide service is available from most South Shore Community Broadband towers. It provides superior stability and reliability with a wide 3 megabits per second upstream and 3 megabits downstream bandwidth. The Subscriber Unit is rented for $6.99 month from South Shore Community Broadband and is typically installed on a high point (20-60ft) on your house or tv antenna tower.
The service involves an ethernet cable from the outdoor SU to your computer or router providing your device with a static IP. It has very low latency characteristics and can be used for VoIP or VPN.
The Broadband 900 Wide service is installed by the ILS crew at your site, with basic connectivity to your computer or router (not including home network setups etc.). The typical cost for installation is $125 plus network cables and brackets.
The residential version of the service, up to three computers attached, is $38.95 / month, business $59.95 /month (up to five computers).
Broadband 2400/5830 Wide Plus
The 2400 Wide Plus is a higher bandwidth version of the Wide. It requires almost cleaner line-of-sight to the tower with the Access Point.
The Wide Plus is 5 megabits per second downstream and 3-5 megabits upstream.
Residential Wide Plus $44.95 Business $64.95 $6.95 equipment rental.
Broadband 2400 WiFi
The Broadband 2400 WiFi service is brought to you by Georgina's South Shore Community Broadband, and is available for residential and small office use through ILS in limited areas.
This service uses local 2.4 GHz gateways and access points that can give the end user very fast download and upstream speeds depending on location.
Currently this service in use at Belhaven, Baldwin, East Beaches areas, but has limited availability due to its characteristics and relatively short distance beam.
Broadband Decicated Lines
If you require a service for your office with multiple computers, we will have a suitable dedicated interface service for you. Send your inquiry to admin@ils.net.
The above montly and installation prices include connectivity to the Internet, not installations of home/office private networks, programming routers or repairing computers.
For wired/wireless home networks, we recommned Linksys routers. For Dlink routers, see this: Dlink routers.
Ask us about Linksys routers and installations.
Note! While the Broadband network is protected, this type of routers by default allow outsiders to connect to your home network wirelessly. A home network is not part of your Internet service from ILS/SSCB.
The home network must be protected for identity and bandwidth theft. If you are unfamiliar with ESSIDs and WEP, WPA and MAC filtering, arrange for us to program your router for correct security settings without loosing connection speed.

Web Services
Hosted by the
ILS servers, your pages will be seen time after time by local ILS customers and
visitors from all over the world. www.ils.net takes thousands of hits per day,
is a link in several Web-wide search engines.
The web service includes
listing on our business
pages, popular York Region market place.
Want your own .com?
We can also host your own domain name. This involves setting up a virtual
server configuration to our server, which then will respond to requests for
yourdomain.com.
If you want us to host your domain, please do not
reserve or register it before contacting us. It will be difficult and time
consuming to transfer the domain from another organization.
One-time fee of
CAD 75.00 gets your Internic (.com) or Canadian (.ca) domain registered and
activated on our DNS service. From there on, renewals are $65.00 /
year.
A
regular web site setup can be set up within 24 hours, a domain takes typically
1-2 days.
If you already have a domain registered and hosted some place else,
and you would like to transfer it our service, ask for server and contact
details that you need when you transfer your domain.
Domain transfer (name
server change) can only be done by the person who is listed as the admin
contact.

The basic web
service includes use of form delivery script. This will mail the contents of
your HTML form to the desired recipient safely.
We also support virtual
mail hosting. When this option is added to your virtual domain, you can send
and receive mail under 1-4 mail addresses, e.g. your.name@yourdomain.com,
webmaster@yourdomain.com, info@yourdomain.com etc. This option costs only $4.50
on top of your $19.50 monthly web service charge.
Another available option is
advanced web statistics. Our script compiles complete stats of traffic to
your web site daily. This option is $1.50 / month.
The PHP, CGI and MySQL
options allow you to create interactive web sites.
You can create your page
yourself or have it custom-made by us.
Creation (writing HTML, PHP, Perl or
Java code, text, scanning graphics, etc.)
and administration, (FTP, Unix
operations, changes) is $45.00 / hour.
