Do you have a beach area?
We have a small private beach in our cottage area.
Do you have squash courts?
We do not have squash courts, but we do offer outdoor tennis, basketball, volleyball and badminton.
What size is your indoor Pool?
The indoor pool is 40 feet by 20 feet.
Do you rent cross-country skis?
Yes, we do offer ski rentals. A full day rental is $17.00 and the half-day rental is $11.75. Some junior sets are available at $13.50 for full day and $9.75 for half day. Taxes are extra.
Do you rent snowmobiles?
Snowmobile rentals are not available in this area.
Is it safe to swim in the lake?
Lake swimming is very safe. We recommend that guest wear water shoes. We have some water shoes available at our waterfront.
What do you have for children?
The Briars children's program is offered during the summer months (Canada Day to Labour Day), Christmas Holiday periods and March Break. The program offers children's activities and supervised dinners. We invite children 3-10 years to participate.
In addition to the children's program, our babysitters can offer time off for parents. Babysitters can be booked at any time of the year, for any time of day or night. Please reserve babysitters when you reserve your accommodations or in advance of your arrival.
Do you rent skates?
We do rent skates in a limited range of sizes. If you do own skates, you might be more comfortable using your own.
Are there any sites to see nearby?
Nearby attractions include... the Red Barn Theatre, historic St.George's Church, Sibbald Point Provincial Park, the Sharon Temple, the Georgina Museum, Lake Simcoe Scenic Trail, Eildon Hall Museum and the Kirkfield Lift Lock (Trent-Severn Waterway). Also nearby are mini-golf, batting cages, bowling, go carting, horseback riding, and power boat rentals.
Within a one-hour drive there is... Toronto's shopping, theatres, museums, art galleries, cinemas, festivals and sports events. These include Toronto Skydome, Air Canada Centre, CN Tower, Metro Toronto Zoo, Hockey Hall of Fame, Ontario Science Centre, Ontario Place, Royal Ontario Museum, Paramount Canada's Wonderland, Black Creek Pioneer Village, Woodbine Racetrack, the Toronto Islands, Bata Shoe Museum, Casino Rama, McMichael Canadian Art Collection, Kortright Centre for Conservation, and much much more.
Is there shopping nearby?
There are many antique shops and artisan studios in the area. Upper Canada Mall and the shops of Newmarket are a 35-minute drive from The Briars.
Do you offer water-skiing?
We do not offer motorized watercraft, but rentals are available nearby.
Which activities are additional charges?
Mountain bikes, sailboats, spa services (e.g. massage therapy, facials), skis, skates, Red Barn Theatre tickets, babysitters, room service, golf. Please ask reservations for rates and details.
