More about the
Red Barn Theatre...
The Red Barn is part of The Briars heritage property, being expanded in 1883 by Dr. Frank Sibbald, then housing his award-winning cattle.
It was an active barn until 1949. That spring Alfred Mulock asked Jack Sibbald to let him convert it to a theatre. Nominal rent was agreed to. The theatre was prepared, the season came off, the actors left and the renovation costs were left for Jack to pay!
Now operated by the Lake Simcoe Arts Foundation (founded by John Sibbald in 1973), the Red Barn Theatre is Canada’s longest running professional theatre. The Briars is The Barn’s sustaining sponsor, continuing this Ontario summer tradition by offering the theatre at no cost to the LSAF.
Please join us and enjoy this unique summer experience!
