There are two routes from Eastern Ontario and Montreal, Hwy. 401 and Hwy. 7.

1. Via Hwy. 401
In the summertime, it is a pleasant 3˝-hour drive west from Kingston (Montreal 6 hours) on Highway 401/12/48. In winter, it is a trip of about equal length on what are usually good roads.
From Montreal:
Take Rte. 20 west to Hwy 401.
Drive west on Hwy. 401 to Hwy. 12.
Turn right (north) on Hwy. 12 to Hwy. 48 south.
Turn left (west) on Hwy. 48 to York Rd. 18 (Park Rd.).
Turn right (north) and drive to its end at Hedge Rd.
Drive 3 km west to The Briars gates at 55 Hedge Rd.
Alternative faster route
From Hwy. 401, turn north on Hwy. 28 at Port Hope.
At Hwy. 28's end, go straight ahead (north) onto "Hwy. 7 West/Hwy. 7A East" to Fowlers Corners.
Turn left (west) and continue on Hwy. 7 west to Hwy 12.
Turn right (north) on Hwy. 12 to Hwy. 48 south.
Turn left (west) on Hwy. 48 south to York Rd. 18 (Park Rd).
Turn right (north) to its end at Hedge Rd.

2. Via Hwy. 7 (from Ottawa and Peterborough)
In the summertime, it is a pleasant 5-hour drive from Ottawa or 75-minute drive from Peterborough. In winter, it is an equally scenic trip on what are usually good roads.
Drive west on Hwy. 7 to Hwy 12.
Turn right (north) on Hwy. 12 to Hwy. 48 south.
Turn left (west) on Hwy. 48 south to York Road 18 (Park Rd.).
Turn right (north) to its end at Hedge Rd.
Drive 3 km west to The Briars gates at 55 Hedge Rd.
