Nothing either rashly or in fear

This is the Burnie coat of arms, as represented by the International Coats of Arms Heraldic House, but whether it has any historic authenticity is quite uncertain.

The shield is quartered. The first and fourth quarters are gule (red); the second and third azure (blue). Gule represents the military colour for excellence and fortitude. Azure symbolizes the virtues of justice, loyalty, and courage. It is the most worthy of colours.

The precious stone is the turquoise, the planet is Venus, and the obligation is to help the servant.

Under the heading of "charges and ordinaries", the cross (engrailed) refers to some Christian experience or sentiment of the first bearer. Engrailed signifies earth or land.

The motto "Nil Temere Neque Timore" means: Nothing either rashly or in fear.
